Troy City Schools
TROY is a district of more than 35,000 people and encompasses 36.7 square miles in central Miami County, Ohio. It has a large industrial base made up of major corporations such as PMI Food Equipment Group, ITW, Goodrich Corporation, American Honda Motor Co., Troy Daily News, Stillwater Technologies Inc., F&P America Manufacturing Inc., United Retail Group, Upper Valley Medical Center and others. It is a community rich in tradition and pride.
The Troy School District serves the City of Troy and Concord Township. Troy High School is a comprehensive college-prep oriented public high school. The division of the school year is quarterly and credits are awarded by semester. Vocational students may attend the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School with some Vocational Technology programs being housed in the high school. Troy High School is state accredited in Ohio by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Greater Western Ohio Conference. Troy students have access to over 40 extracurricular activities and numerous community based organizations. The Troy schools have a tradition of providing students with a quality education based on innovative curriculum and support services designed to meet student needs.
Seven Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in the following areas: Chemistry, American Government, U.S. History, Macro & Micro Economics, Calculus AB, Calculus BC and Statistics. Biology II and Physics are similar to their AP counterparts, AP Biology and AP Physics but offer a greater range of instruction and laboratory experiences. Additionally, the Honors English courses offer a greater depth of literary analysis than their AP equivalent.
