Have you ever considered going for a skilled trade instead of a major?
A skilled trade, what could that possibly be? A skilled trade is a worker who specializes in a particular occupation that requires work experience, on-the-job training, and often formal vocational education. If you are a hands on person, this is something you should look into.
As you go through High School you start to wonder where your life is going to go once graduation comes. Sophomore year is where many big decisions are made. Are you going to stay at your home school, go to a career center, or do dual enrollment at a college? Which ever option you choose they are all great. For one, you need to have an idea as to what you want to do with your life.
When deciding to go to the UVCC or MVCTC, they have the option to do a Pre-Apprenticeship program. This specific program, is all about getting you out into the workforce. Now, you still have to do some school work like English and Science, but you get to also do hands on work. On top of getting to do an actual job, your actually getting paid, unlike some internships you may apply for while in college.
Now, how do you go about weighing all these options out? Start by thinking about what you want to do, your interests, and what you think would be the best way for you to get to where you want to be. Deciding what to do with so many resources available to you can be very tricky. All you need to do is put a little thought into it and go for it!
